October 5th, 7th, 8th, 19th, 21st, 22nd (2023)

Module two provides participants with an all-encompassing understanding behind the imprint of trauma on the body and somatic interventions for recovery.

You will gain knowledge of the 12 Body Systems, the Musculoskeletal, Respiratory and Nervous Systems.

Through the exploration of the biomechanics of somatic movement and restorative asanas, you will employ teaching strategies for each.

You will learn about the window of tolerance model and the various zones of arousal, how stress can move you out of the window of tolerance, and strategies to increase the window of tolerance.

Through the preparation of sequences, you will practice the RfR Method and gain further knowledge through teaching fellow classmate’s asana postures within the TRMBW™ framework.

You will obtain an understanding of the Polyvagal theory, somatic therapy, how to release trauma trapped in the body and safely move someone back to social engagement.

MODULE TWO SCHEDULE

SESSION ONE: Window of Tolerance
Thursday October 5th 5:00pm-7:30pm EST

Key Learning Outcomes
  • To understand and be able to explain the Window of Tolerance model
  • To understand how traumatic stress impacts the Window of Tolerance
  • To understand and be able to utilize strategies to return to the Window of Tolerance
  • To understand, be able to utilize strategies to increase the Window of Tolerance.

SESSION TWO:  Introduction to Human Body as a Whole System and Somatic Movement Techniques
Saturday October 7th 10:00am-4:00pm EST

Learning Objective 1: To be able to name and define the 12 different body systems, and then recognize and explain how the different body systems are interconnected and dependent on each other.

Learning Objective 2: To be able to demonstrate and teach standing, seated and lying down somatic movement techniques that can be intentionally applied to facilitate a safe healing space.

SESSION THREE: A&P of Trauma and Somatic Movement Techniques
Sunday October 8th 10:00am-4:00pm EST

Learning Objective 1: To have a good understanding of how trauma affects the physical body.

Learning Objective 2: To be able to demonstrate and teach standing, seated and lying down somatic movement techniques that can be intentionally applied to facilitate a safe healing space.

SESSION FOUR: Polyvagal Theory and Nervous System Mapping
Thursday October 19th 5:00pm-7:30pm EST

Learning Objective: To have a solid understanding of the Polyvagal theory and how to detect regulated nervous and dysregulated nervous system characteristics and behaviors. Learn practices for regulating the nervous system.

SESSION FIVE: Restorative Yoga
Saturday October 21st 10:00am-4:00pm EST

Learning Objective: To have a solid understanding of the theory behind Restorative Yoga, and be able to recognize the benefits and contraindications of the 6 Restorative forms. Deepen the exploration of the RFR method

SESSION SIX: Restorative Yoga
Sunday October 22nd 10:00am-4:00pm EST

Learning Objective: To be able to demonstrate and teach Restorative Yoga forms that can be intentionally applied to facilitate a safe healing space.
